This limits in the end the possibility to elaborate recommendations to prevent similar accidents. The fact that accident reporting is not mandatory in inland shipping does not help the situation.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Objectives<\/strong><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nThe CESNI organised this workshop with the following objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bring together persons from different member states that are involved in collecting data on accidents in inland navigation<\/li>\n<li>Increase the understanding of existing methodologies and statistical concepts in view of an evaluation of similarities and significant differences across member states<\/li>\n<li>Inform on the work done by the EUROSTAT Task Force<\/li>\n<li>Improve the data collection situation in Europe<\/li>\n<li>Close knowledge gaps by raising awareness of who is collecting data<\/li>\n<li>Identify reasons why data is not collected<\/li>\n<li>Convey the importance of accident data collection for overall safety in inland navigation<\/li>\n<li>Pave the way to the development of an accident database on an international level (with the possibility of comparison and cooperation)<\/li>\n<li>Promote commitment to provide data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<strong>Presentations<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #01a9db;\">Examples of practical experience on national level<\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Mr van Brummelen (Rijkswaterstaat) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cesni.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/2_TvanBrummelen_RWS_en.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"contentdoc download tooltip\" data-title=\"download\"><svg width=\"20\" height=\"17\"><use xlink:href=\"#download\"><\/use><\/svg><span>EN <\/span><\/a><br \/>\nSOS Formulier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cesni.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/2_TvanBrummelen_SOS_formulier-versie-4_1_1_EN.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"contentdoc download tooltip\" data-title=\"download\"><svg width=\"20\" height=\"17\"><use xlink:href=\"#download\"><\/use><\/svg><span>EN <\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Mr Nehab (WSV &#8211;
